MIJ Exhaust supporting CAR SOS in restoring the classic Fiat Spider
MIJ Exhaust LTD were seen on the British automotive entertainment television series, CAR SOS. We were described as the ‘temple of tailpipe dom’, working with stainless steel and carbon fibre parts and the place that offers solutions to all your silencing needs 😀
CAR SOS started in 2013 and their aim is to restore owners’ classic cars from across the UK and Europe. We had the pleasure of working with Tim and Fuzz by supporting them in their very first season, to help an injured man with his Fiat 850 spider.
The Fiat 850 is a small rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car manufactured and marketed by Italian car manufacturer Fiat from 1964 to 1973.
Fortunately for the team, the 4 cyclinder engine had started up however the exhaust on this classic was exhausted with a huge hole in the silencer, blowing out hot air. The exhaust system was small, about the size of a motorcycle exhaust. Which made sense as the engine on this classic is at the back, so the exhaust didn’t have to run along the vehicle. For such an old car it was hard to find direct fit replacement parts till they met us. The team had explained that they would like to keep the exhaust as similar to the standard part as possible, rather than having a complete custom exhaust box made to replace it. We understood the assignment and agreed to try to keep the exhaust as original as possible.
We loved the passion they had to save decaying classic cars and trying to restore them to its former glory and it was only right to lend them a hand with their exhaust needs.
